The American Farm Bureau Foundation for Agriculture's Online Auction gives everyone the opportunity to support ag literacy, whether they are onsite at the 2017 AFBF Annual Convention & IDEAg Trade Show in Phoenix Jan. 6-11 or at home on the farm or ranch.

All the proceeds from the Online Auction support the Foundation's mission of building awareness, understanding and a positive public perception of agriculture through education. The Foundation's programs include the online resources My American Farm, mini-grants for agricultural literacy projects, scholarships to the National Agriculture in the Classroom Conference, Ag Mags, a middle school curriculum and more.

Having the Silent Auction online allows the Foundation to expand the bidding to people who are not able to attend Annual Convention. Bidding will open on Jan. 3 at 8 a.m. Mountain and close on Jan. 9 at 12:00 p.m. Mountain.

From useful tools like a STIHL chain saw and tasty farm goods like bacon to one-of-a kind items like jewelry, bags and gift baskets, every year the Silent Auction offers a wide array of items.

Julie Tesch, Foundation executive director

The Online Auction's website gives bidders the ability to set a high bid and have the site make automatic bids up to that amount, so bidders won’t miss out on their favorite items.

Those attending Annual Convention can check out some onsite Auction items in the Tradeshow.

You can find this near the Foundation booth.

Again in 2017, Nationwide will match the auction proceeds, up to $15,000.

“We are so grateful to Nationwide for their continued support of the Foundation and the Silent Auction,” Tesch said. “It's important that Farm Bureau members know that their bids have double the impact because of Nationwide's generous matching grant. We encourage everyone to take advantage of this by placing a bid.”
