#WomenInAg recognizes the contributions of women involved in agriculture during Women’s History Month (March). AFBF is proud to salute Amanda Freund, a Connecticut farmer and Farm Bureau leader!

Freund is a member of the American Farm Bureau’s Grassroots Outreach Team. She recently served two years as chair of Connecticut Farm Bureau’s Young Farmers Committee, where she organized training programs and tours of farms and a local food bank.

A graduate of the Young Dairy Leaders Institute, Freund is actively involved with the Agri-Mark Young Cooperators Program and speaks on a national level about her role as a young, female farmer. She recently spoke at two Women in Agriculture conferences and looks forward to encouraging more
women farmers to share their story online, on the farm and in their communities.

After serving as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Zambia, Freund returned to her family’s farm in 2012. Today, she fills in as needed between three farm businesses: the 300-cow dairy which includes five robotic milking machines, the retail farm market/bakery and CowPots (biodegradable seed-starting pots made from their cows’ manure).
