The American Farm Bureau Federation’s Katelyn McCullock was quoted in a recent Bloomberg article on current beef prices. Bloomberg explained that while higher output is helping to keep ground beef prices low this Fourth of July, retailers are beginning to see pressure from wholesale beef supplies. “There’s a lull in activity between Fourth of July and Labor Day,” said AFBF economist Katelyn McCullock. “It can really impact the market.”

Further, lower ground beef prices contribute to cheaper barbeques this year, noted Bloomberg. “At the average 10-person cookout, it’ll cost just $5.70 per head, down about 1 percent from last year, according to the American Farm Bureau Federation.”
