A Financial Times article that examines the issues surrounding a possible U.S.-UK trade deal mentions that AFBF will “press the UK for the same concessions on tariff cuts and changes in hygiene standards it failed to get during trade talks with the EU.”
Further, “The UK, currently as a member of the EU, has a number of barriers to trade ranging from acceptance of biotechnology products to food processing. We would look to a new agreement to take a science-based approach to food safety,” Dr. Bob Young, AFBF’s chief economist, told the Times.
