American Farm Bureau Federation’s Ellen Steen was quoted in a recent Fox News article about the regulatory struggles farmers face. Steen, general counsel at AFBF, discussed California farmer John Duarte’s particular struggle with regulations and the executive order signed in February “to lower regulatory burden on the American people by implementing and enforcing regulatory reform,” noted Fox. Referring to Duarte’s case Steen explained, “This is the type of regulatory abuse we think President Trump’s Executive Order is meant to fix." Further, “These are not brand new regulations. It is enforcing regulations that have been on the books for decades that are written broadly and vaguely that allow the Army Corp to enforce these major penalties,” she said.
