USA Today Op-Ed: Estate Tax Forces Farmers to Play Defense

USA Today published “Estate Tax Forces Farmers to Play Defense,” an op-ed by AFBF President Zippy Duvall. Duvall explained that the estate tax is a burden to farmers and the daily operation of their agriculture businesses. He pointed out that the biggest tax issue for farmers and ranchers today is the “endless expenses and legal maneuvering that accomplishes nothing of value.” Further, “All this happens so farmers don’t have to sell the farm piece by piece to pay the IRS,” he said. “The estate tax was meant for the truly rich, not people like us.”
