In-Person Farmfest Offers Livestreamed Forums on the Farm Bill, Ag Outlook and More

National farm and ranch leaders will gather at Minnesota Farmfest Aug. 2-3 to discuss the farm bill, the outlook for agriculture in the coming year and other topics. The show will feature approximately 400 companies showcasing the latest innovations available to farmers in the upper Midwest. Several forum discussions will stream live on Farmfest.com.

The “Must-Haves” in the Next Farm Bill

This feature forum will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 2, at 1:15 p.m. Central. The primary focus will be on key policy issues that are being considered as Congress develops the 2023 farm bill. The forum panel will include Scott VanderWal, vice president, American Farm Bureau Federation; Rob Larew, president, National Farmers Union; Don Schiefelbein, president, National Cattleman’s Beef Association; Terry Wolters, past president, National Pork Producers Council; Tom Haag, first vice president, National Corn Growers Association; George Goblish, first vice president, American Soybean Association Executive Board; and Ian Cunningham, vice president, National Association of Conservation Districts.

Ag Outlook Forum

This forum opens at 8:30 a.m. Central on Wednesday, Aug. 3, and will feature several grain marketing, weather, ag policy, crop and livestock experts sharing perspectives on the coming year. Presenters will include Mark Schultz, marketing analyst with Northstar Commodity; Dave Nicolai, University of Minnesota crop specialist; Bernt Nelson, AFBF economist; and AFBF policy analysts Courtney Briggs and RJ Layher.

“We’re pleased to continue the longstanding Farmfest tradition of providing educational forums on issues that are important to the agriculture community, such as the farm bill and economic outlooks for the coming year,” said Melissa Sanders Carroll, executive director, IDEAg. “In-person attendees and those tuning in via livestream will benefit from the insights shared by our outstanding lineup of presenters.”

Other Forums

In addition to national agriculture topics, the Farmfest forums will feature regional political events. Attendees can tune in for discussions with candidates in the Minnesota governor’s race as well as candidates in the first, second, sixth, seventh and eighth congressional districts.

The “Getting the Most from Federal Ag Programs” forum will also be livestreamed in addition to the Women in Ag event featuring a keynote address from Michelle Miller, a/k/a The Farm Babe, and presentation of the Farmfest Woman Farmer of the Year Award.
